It started on Firefly Road.
My grandfather’s farm in Iowa.

The place that first sparked my dream of becoming a vet.

At Firefly, we believe veterinary care can feel different.

Gentler. Slower. More connected. Built not just around symptoms or checklists, but around your pet’s whole life — their comfort, their emotions, their environment, and the bond you share.

We offer home-based veterinary care because that’s where your pet is most at ease.
No stressful car rides, no loud waiting rooms — just calm, thoughtful support in a space they know and trust. Being in your pet’s home also lets us see the full picture: how they move, how they settle, how they truly are, day to day. That insight matters.

But it’s not just about location — it’s about how we work.

Firefly combines conventional medicine with complementary therapies like acupuncture, laser, PEMF, massage, and behaviour-informed care. We take time to understand what’s going on beneath the surface, whether that’s a pain pattern, a subtle shift in mood, or something you just can’t quite put your finger on. Our goal is to support your pet’s whole wellbeing — body, mind, and movement — and to help you feel confident in the path ahead.

We’re especially here for:

  • Pets with behaviour challenges — from cooperative care struggles to complex emotional needs

  • Older pets living with age-related changes and chronic conditions

  • Those recovering from injury or struggling with painful conditions

  • Anxious or fearful animals who find clinic visits overwhelming

  • Guardians looking for gentle, long-term support rooted in understanding and trust

Our Name, Our Journey

Firefly is named for 1704 Firefly Road — the dusty dirt track where my grandfather’s farm sat, in the quiet countryside of Iowa. He was the one who first encouraged me to become a vet. That road, that farm, the many summers spent with all the animals, and his belief in me lit a spark that never really went out.

So Firefly is more than a name — it’s a return to roots. A nod to gentleness, to slowing down, to light in the dark. And to the kind of care that holds space for all the things that really matter.
