PEMF Therapy

Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) therapy is a restorative non-invasive treatment helps reduce inflammation, soothe pain, and enhances the body’s natural healing processes.

Heal while they rest.

What is PEMF Therapy?

PEMF uses low-frequency electromagnetic waves to stimulate cells, improve circulation, and encourage tissue repair.

You can think of PEMF of being the bodies battery recharger. It works by improving adenosine triphosphate (ATP) production which is the energy carrying molecule in your body. More so, PEMF facilitates vasodilation, angiogenesis, reduces inflammation and has been found to be effective in enhancing nerve regeneration.

At Firefly, we offer Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) therapy as part of our integrative approach to comfort and recovery.

When can PEMF Therapy Help?

It’s widely used in both human and veterinary medicine to help with:

  • Arthritis and joint stiffness

  • Inflammation and chronic pain - arthritis, hip dysplasia, or back issues

  • Neurological conditions – like nerve injuries or intervertebral disc disease (IVDD)

  • Post-surgical recovery – to support healing

  • Age-related changes – including cognitive decline, reduced activity, discomfort, or poor circulation

  • And even new reasearch into benefits for anxiety and internal imbalance – when stress and lack of sleep affects behaviour

What Does a Session Involve?

We use a soft, pet-friendly PEMF mat that delivers pulsed therapy while your pet relaxes. Most animals find it soothing and settle down easily. A typical session lasts 15–30 minutes and may be offered on its own or alongside other therapies such as acupuncture or massage.

We are happy to discuss whether PEMF is right for your pet as part of a holistic care plan.

When is PEMF Therapy not suitable?

The only contraindications are for those individuals with pacemakers, insulin pumps, or other electrical implants, and pregnancy.

Overall it is safe, non-invasive, and well tolerated. We’ll ensure your pet is a suitable candidate before beginning, and tailor the treatment based on their individual needs.
