SENIOR PET WELLNESS

Thoughtful preventive veterinary care aimed to help your senior pet feel their best in the golden years— all in the comfort of home.

Why Senior Wellness Matters

As your pet matures, their needs change. The likelihood of age-related health problems increases with every passing year. Small shifts in behaviour, mobility, or appetite can be easy to miss — but understanding these changes and making adjustments to their care routine is essential for ensuring their continued happiness and wellbeing in their golden years.

Firefly’s in-home senior wellness visits are designed to help your pet stay comfortable, active, and happy for as long as possible.

We focus on gentle, thorough assessments to proactively detect early signs of pain, illness, or cognitive change — and guide you with tailored care plans that support your pet's journey.

Dogs, in general, may be called senior at 7 years of age, but larger breeds age more quickly.

Cats are considered mature at 7 to 10 years, senior at 11 to 14 years, and geriatric at 15 or older.

What’s Included in a Senior Wellness Visit?

  • Full physical examination, unhurried at a pace comfortable for them

  • Comprehensive mobility and pain assessment

  • Medication and supplement review

  • Lifestyle and environmental evaluation

  • Discussion of diet, enrichment, and appropriate exercise

  • Recommendations for senior-specific bloodwork and diagnostics

  • Ongoing comfort and quality of life planning

A Personalised Plan, Just for Them

Charis will create a thoughtful, individualised care plan to support your pet’s comfort, vitality, and emotional wellbeing. Whether that means adjusting medications, exploring pain relief options, or fine-tuning their daily routine, we’re here to help your pet feel like themselves for as long as possible.

Why at Home?

Older pets often feel safer and more relaxed in familiar surroundings. By coming to you, we can observe how your pet moves, sleeps, eats, and behaves in their natural environment — and make proactive changes that benefit them and truly fit your home & lifestyle.

We believe that senior care should feel as calm and dignified as it is clinical.

With Senior Pet Wellness Exams, we are able to recommend ways to improve your pet’s general health and reduce risk factors, detect emerging diseases and correct or delay a disease’s progression to prolong your senior pet’s quality of life.
